By David Rupiny Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) licensed 426 planned investment projects valued at $2.61 billion (UGX 9.63 trillion) in the financial year 2023/24. This marks an increase of 26 projects compared to the 400 licensed in 2022/23, reflecting a 6.5% growth in the number of licensed investments. The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the U.S. government’s development finance agency, has signed an agreement with Opportunity Bank Uganda Ltd that will enable an increase in lending to refugee businesses and Ugandan host communities by up to $9 million (33 billion UGX) over the next six years.
