Uganda Aids Commission is set to face huge funding shortfall this financial year 2025/2026, this website has learnt. Government has allocated only UGX 22.793 billion to the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) for the 2025/26 financial year, despite a glaring funding gap of UGX 604 billion caused by the United States’ suspension of foreign aid, particularly in the health sector. Although Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is making significant strides in the fight against cancer by expanding access to specialized treatment and investing in state-of-the-art technology. Uganda Cancer Institute Executive Director Dr Jackson Orem says they urgently need shs 500billion annually to provide optimal cancer care services to the growing care patients in the country. According to Orem last year the centre registered 36,000 cases of cancer disease however, UCI is establishing regional cancer centers in Mbarara,Gulu,Arua and Mbale to ease travel burden on patients. The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has established a dedicated Customer Protection Unit to combat rampant corruption, infrastructure vandalism, and illegal water use. Eng.
