Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has been declared the winner of the NRM first National Vice Chairperson(female) race after trouncing first Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Kadaga.
Among got 11,680 votes representing 92% of the votes cast against Kadaga’s 902 votes.
Most interesting bit is that Among won in almost all districts in the country, including in Busoga region, Rebecca Kadaga’s strong base.
“I being the NRM Electoral Commission Returning Officer for NRM internal Party elections for position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), hereby declare declare Anita Annet Among who has polled the highest number of 11680 votes representing 92.8 percent as the duly elected second National Vice Chairperson (Female),” Dr.Tanga Odoi declared on Wednesday at Kololo.

The NRM voted for Central Executive Committee (CEC) members at its National Delegates’ Conference at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
Other winners include former government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo, who was elected NRM flagbearer for MP Older Persons in the Eastern Region. He defeated incumbent Dominic Gidudu Mafabi, the current Minister of State for the Elderly.
Rtd Lt Moses Mushabe won as NRM (CEC) National Chairperson of the Veterans League.

Ann Ruyondo Lumumba won as Secretary of Finance for the NRM Women’s League. Adrine Kobusingye was elected National Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League.
Arinaitwe Rwakajara won as Workers MP flagbearer and Chairperson of the Workers League, Shafik Mwanje was elected Chairperson of the PWDs League, and Penina Busingye Kabingani became Chairperson of the Elders’ League.
David Echodu was declared National Vice Chairperson on the CEC for Eastern Uganda, while Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune won as NRM Vice Chairperson for Central Region (Buganda).
