The award, presented to him at the Meridian Arts Centre, honors individuals driving transformative change.

It also specifically celebrates Muganga’s leadership in making education more practical, technology-driven and relevant to the global economy.

Organizers of the Excellence Awards praised him as “an academic giant, a visionary leader, and a global force redefining Africa’s future.”

The award is seen as a point of national and continental pride, signaling Africa’s growing influence in global education debates. Beyond his university role, Muganga advises governments and international organizations on building education systems grounded in relevance, skills and innovation.

His Global Impact Award solidifies his reputation as a transformative thinker shaping education across borders.

“This is not just my award,” Muganga said in his acceptance remarks. “It belongs to every African educator who dares to dream of an education that empowers, inspires and transforms lives.”

In Uganda Prof Muganga is very popular for education reforms and championing Artifical Intelligence in education.

His career journey started at University of Alberta in Canada where he championed the transformation from academic theory to practical and real-world skills.

He has also spearheaded  Victoria University as centre of relevant and result oriented centre for continent’s most innovative  learning institutions. He introduced Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), a first in East and Central Africa, which ensures every graduate gains industry experience, entrepreneurship skills and employability competencies.

Muganga has further advocated for Competency-Based Education (CBE), a model that moves beyond rote memorization to focus on practical outcomes. Under his leadership, Victoria University has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools to create an education system designed to meet the demands of the future workforce.

“Education must go beyond degrees; it must create thinkers, doers, and problem-solvers who can thrive in a fast-changing world,” Muganga often says.
