Uganda  Bureau of Statistics is set to officially launch and host the Multbillion State of Art East African Community Statistics Bureau (EACSB)  Complex at Entebbe,

The development follows  UBOS Board resolution to allocate Entebbe office land  for the establishment of  Modern Multi billion building for East Africa Community Statistics Bureau.

According to officials UBOS Board Chairman, Dr Albert Byamugisha, will officially conduct the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of  the State of the Art building named ‘Statistics House Entebbe’ tomorrow on Thursday.

The Shs 83billion  budget for the structure  received a green light from the office of the President and the Ministry of Finance.

Byamugisha said the new complex  will host statistics in service training centre, data science labs, archive centre, Conference Hall, disaster recovery centre and some offices to decongest Statistics House in Kampala,

The East African Statistics Bureau is a proposed institution of the East African Community (EAC) mandated by the East African Monetary Union Protocol to harmonize regional statistics, collect data from national offices, and authenticate economic metrics

The East African Community Statistics Bureau was approved through the passage of its enabling legislation by the East African Legislative Assembly on October 8, 2025, following the finalization of the EAC Statistics Bureau framework to support the East African Monetary Union.

The mandate of the East African Community Statistics Bureau is to develop, produce, disseminate, and coordinate reliable, harmonized, and comparable community statistics to support regional integration, policy-making, and the East African Monetary Union.

The 7th EAC Development Strategy outlines a $110.9 million budget framework for FY 2026/2027 focused on regional integration, economic convergence, and single-currency readiness by 2031.
