MILIMA SECURITY ACQUIRES ISO CERTIFICATION

Milima Security, one of Uganda’s leading cybersecurity firms, has been awarded the prestigious ISO/IEC 27001 certification, an internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).

The achievement marks a significant milestone in the company’s evolution and underscores its commitment to protecting information assets in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

Founded in 2016, Milima Security has steadily grown from a home-grown Ugandan start-up into a trusted regional cybersecurity provider.

Over the years, the firm has supported a wide range of clients, including public institutions, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, helping them secure critical technology infrastructure against emerging cyber threats.

The company’s growth has been underpinned by continuous investment in technical expertise, alongside deliberate efforts to strengthen governance frameworks, risk management practices and operational maturity.

As part of its strategic ambition to expand beyond Uganda’s borders, Milima Security recognised the importance of aligning its internal processes with globally accepted information security standards.

ISO/IEC 27001 certification provides independent assurance that an organisation manages information securely, consistently and in line with international best practice.

For Milima Security, the certification is particularly important as it positions the firm to meet the expectations of regional clients, partners and regulators who increasingly demand demonstrable compliance with global security benchmarks.

The certification also reflects Milima’s leadership-driven approach to cybersecurity, where information protection is integrated into day-to-day operations, strategic decision-making and continuous improvement, rather than treated as a one-off compliance requirement.

Looking ahead, Milima Security views ISO/IEC 27001 as a strong foundation for secure and responsible growth. The company says the certification will enable it to scale its services across borders while maintaining trust, resilience and confidence among its clients in an ever-evolving digital environment.
