Equity Bank Uganda has launched a new digital banking platform named “Equity Online for Business

The launch is aimed at enhancing efficiency, security, and real-time financial management for enterprises of all sizes.

The new platform is a total rebuild designed to replace the previous EazzyBiz system.

The bank said all business clients must immediately transition to the new platform to continue accessing its digital services.

Executive Director Claver Serumaga explained that the upgrade is designed to meet the growing demand for fast, integrated financial information in today’s business environment.

“The new system brings multiple services into one place, allowing companies to handle payroll, supplier payments, and foreign exchange transactions on a single platform. It can be accessed via web browsers, a mobile app, and APIs that connect directly to a company’s accounting systems,’he stated.

According to Serumaga,  key improvements are real-time tracking of funds across different currencies and automated transfers that help businesses manage excess balances more efficiently. Companies can also manage their own accounts internally, including assigning user roles and permissions, without having to rely on the bank.

On security, the platform uses multiple layers of protection such as one-time passwords and token-based verification. It also includes audit trails and dashboards that help businesses monitor transactions, reduce errors, and detect potential financial leakages.

Serumaga said the goal is to move beyond basic banking and offer businesses a complete financial management tool that supports faster and better decision-making.

Key Features

It allows businesses to manage payroll, supplier payments, recurring bills, and foreign transactions in a single, secure interface.

It offers real-time tracking for all money received and paid out.

he Bank of Uganda’s executive director for national payment systems, Dr. Twinemanzi Tumwebeine, praised the new platform as a “major step beyond conventional online banking

Equity Bank Uganda Limited is a fast-growing commercial bank licensed by the Bank of Uganda, serving over 2 million customers with 50+ branches, extensive agent banking (Equi Duuka), and robust digital channels.
