Nigerian Health Expert Dr. Francisca Ayodeji Akala has taken over World Bank Uganda country Managers Position. She has replaced Mukami Kariuki, who completed a four-year world tenure in Uganda. Akala, widely known as “Ayo,” will oversee the World Bank’s $4.5 billion portfolio in Uganda, which includes 18 active projects spanning energy access, education, health care and refugee livelihood support. President Museveni has endorsed the establishment of a prepaid water meter manufacturing plant in Uganda, marking a major step in advancing the country’s efforts to improve water access, conservation, and utility efficiency. The president met with a delegation from Helcraw Electrical Pvt Ltd, a Zimbabwean company working in partnership with China’s Liaison Technologies.
