Within the first six months since Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) took over UMEME, the government entity has added 648,404 new connections (customers) to the national grid, the company official has revealed. This revelation made by UEDCL’s Managing Director, Mr. Paul Mwesigwa, indicates that the number of new connections has increased from 1,782,085 to 2,430,489 since April, when the entity took over management from UMEME (a private player). The Ministry of Agriculture and Korea have launched a project known as “Development of Africa Rice Seed Cultivation Complex in Uganda” that will boost production of rice in the Tochi Irrigation Scheme.This 5-year project will enable the Government of Uganda, through MAAIF, to rehabilitate 50 hectares on Block 5 of the scheme, which is located in Oyam District. Mandela National Stadium, has officially shut down latest upgrade aimed to transform Uganda’s largest sporting facility into a modern, world-class sports arena. The Electoral Commission (EC) unveils the official symbols for 27 registered political parties and 20 symbols designated for independent candidates, ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
