Kenya’s border with Somalia will re-open in April almost 15 years after it shut because of attacks by Islamist militant group al-Shabab, President William Ruto has announced. Based in Somalia, the group has masterminded a series of deadly assaults in Kenya including one on a shopping centre in the capital, Nairobi, killing 67 people in 2013 and one at a university in Garissa two years later killing 148. Equity Bank Uganda is expanding its capacity to design and deploy green loan products following a specialized training program with the Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator. The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has recorded a historic milestone, becoming the first refinery in the world to attain and sustain full 650,000 barrels per day capacity on its Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and Motor Spirit (MS) Block. The refinery announced that both units are now operating at optimal performance following a scheduled maintenance exercise, marking what it described as a landmark achievement in global refining operations. Atleast 99.6% of students who sat for the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) passed according to Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) results released by First Lady and Minster for Education Janet Museveni at State House Nakasero. UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo said performance in 2025 had improved compared to 2024. According to him a total of 432,163 candidates registered for the examinations, representing a 20.2% increase from the 359,417 registered in 2024. Absenteeism also declined to 0.5%.
