The independent Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the polling dates for Uganda’s 2026 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Councils elections calendar stretching from mid-January to early February 2026. Moses Nkonge Kibalama the founding President of National Unity Platform (NUP) has formally withdrawn the long-running court action challenging the party’s leadership and constitution and asked to reconcile with the party he helped create. US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $10 billion from the BBC over a documentary that edited his 2021 speech to supporters ahead of the US Capitol riot.
