The High Court in Kampala has been asked to determine a dispute between Judiciary Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana and International Criminal Court judge Julia Sebutinde over the construction of a five-storey commercial apartment building in Bugolobi, which neighbouring residents say is unlawful and intrusive. The Independent Electoral Commission has flagged off fleet of vehicles transporting essential election materials to various districts ahead of Polling Day scheduled for 15 January 2026. Justice Byabakama Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in his remarks announced that the deregistration of candidates will continue up to the end of polling day should any valid complaint arise warranting the cancellation of a candidate’s nomination, as provided for under Uganda’s electoral laws. In astrategic move to elevate Uganda’s creative sector,Ministry of Gender is set to launch Copyright Management System (CMS), which will register musicians’ works and track their usage in public spaces to ensure artists are paid for their work and significantly curb rampant music piracy. Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, is set to commission the multibillion Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) National Skills Assessment Centre on January 9, 2026, at Kyambogo Hill. The eight-storey facility is expected to enhance efficiency, coordination, and service delivery.
