Atleast 70 percent of Ugandans are now participating in the money economy, President Yoweri Museveni has revealed. Speaking at the 40th Liberation Day celebrations Museveni said Uganda’s economic transformation had progressed steadily from post-war recovery to diversification, value addition, and, most recently, the emergence of a knowledge-based economy. KCB Bank Uganda has increased its personal loan limit to shs 500 million and extended repayment periods to 10 years, for salaried employees. President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Dr Flavian Zeija as the new Chief Justice of Uganda, He replaces Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 70. Dr Zeija, an academic and seasoned jurist, has previously served as a judge of the High Court of Uganda, Principal Judge, and most recently as Deputy Chief Justice. President Yoweri Museveni has ordered for the cancellation of land titles in the Kitubulu Central Forest Reserve, citing corruption within the National Forestry Authority and the need to protect Lake Victoria. Kitubulu Central Forest Reserve is a protected area located in Entebbe in Central Uganda. it is an important forest ecosystem that is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna gazetted in 1932 to protect Lake Victoria and the environment. As the month of January draws to a close to the end, Ugandans have been urged to prioritise saving if they are to achieve their aspirations and long-term financial goals. The Internal Security Organisation (ISO) has asked Parliament for an additional Shs 218 billion in the 2026/27 financial year to boost intelligence gathering and monitor the Parish Development Model (PDM). As of November 2025,government has disbursed over UGX 3.261 trillion to Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs across the country since the program’s launch in 2022.
