In abid to beat census preparations deadline, Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has dispatched first consignment of census materials to districts namely Gulu, Apach, Alebtong, Amurata and Otuke. The consignment was flagged off by Minister of State for Finance and Planning Amos Lugolobi in Kampala. On 24 April 2024, the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Gen. David Muhoozi presented a statement stating that the dilapidated prison built in the 1920s is facing a strain caused by the growing number of inmates and staff which now stands at 8,790 and 2,653, respectively.
