Uganda has been commended by the Oslo-based Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Board for open policy on oil and Minerals. The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global initiative that promotes the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources. Its implementation is overseen by the EITI International Board chaired by Rt Hon Helen Clark. The Board represents extractive companies, investors, international civil society organizations and supporting country governments. Uganda has organised the first-ever Land Learning Week conference to discuss and reflect on the challenges and progress realised in the land sector. Organised under the government and the Civil Society Organisations (CSOS) partnerships in land governance, the learning week will kick off from June 9 to June 15, 2024, at Speke Resort, Munyonyo in Kampala. Uganda’s tax body Uganda Revenue Authority has failed to hit tax collection target of 29trillion in the financial year 2023/2024, this website has learnt. In the last national budget finance ministry put URA to task to collect 29 trillion for FY2023/2024. In an effort to bolster cooperation and cement foreign relations,Uganda plans to open a resident diplomatic mission in South Korea to maximize benefits from their relations.
