Government is considering providing subsidies to the private sector to spur the construction of low-cost housing in both rural and urban areas, in a move aimed at curbing the rapid growth of slums. Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement to borrow Shs 2.747 trillion from Standard Chartered Bank to finance key infrastructure projects across the country. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Matia Kasaija, and Sanjay Rughani, the CEO and Head of Coverage, Uganda, at Standard Chartered Bank. The National Private Educational Institutions Association in Uganda has entered into a strategic partnership with Furaha Finserve Uganda Limited aimed at improving access to purpose-driven school fees financing. The initiative seeks to address persistent challenges faced by private schools arising from delayed school fees payments, which continue to disrupt school operations and learning continuity across the country.
