Equity Bank Uganda has commissioned its fourth cohort of 100 students into the Equity Leaders’ Program, bringing the total number of Ugandan scholars in the program to 419, the bank announced on Saturday. The Equity Leaders Program offers paid internships, mentorship, coaching, and support for students pursuing higher education both in Uganda and internationally. The program selects students based on their Uganda Advanced Certification of Education examination results. Victoria University (VU) has achieved yet again a significant milestone after it secured accreditation from Uganda’s Law Council to offer its Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program. This development positions VU among the selected institutions authorized to provide legal education in the country. In abid to have credible elections in 2026,the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has struck off nearly one million names from its register. NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi said a total of 958,336 individuals were removed following last week’s village-level elections. “These names belonged to people who are either deceased or have defected to other political parties. By Our Reporter Buganda Kingdom will receive a total of Shs38.5 billion in this 2025/26 Financial Year, State Minister for Finance, Henry Musasizi, has announced. Appearing before Parliamentary Budget Committee to respond to issues raised by the Budget Committee on the draft estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next financial year,Musasizi informed MPs that even though Shs154 billion is needed to compensate the Buganda Kingdom, Shs38.5 billion will be made available to the kingdom next financial year.
