Kampala University extends its warmest congratulations to H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President-Elect of the Republic of Uganda, on his well-deserved victory in the 2026 General Elections.
President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner of 15th january election extending his four decades in power by another five years by 72% of the vote.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Council, Senate, Management, Staff, Alumni, and Students of Kampala University, we celebrate this historic achievement which stands as a resounding endorsement of visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the progress of Uganda,” Amb. The overwhelming support received from the electorate reflects the trust Ugandans have placed in your leadership and the remarkable milestones attained under your stewardship,”he added.
Kateregga said Kampala University remains confident Ptesident Museveni experience, and devotion to national development will guide Uganda toward even greater heights of achievement.

Kampala University was established by corporate professionals in February 1998. It opened its gates to pioneer students in October 1999. The University was first licensed by the Ministry of Education and Sports on 23rd November 2000 to operate as an institution of higher learning. In 2003, KU held its 1st Graduation Ceremony with a total of 141 graduates.
The institution is fully recognized and accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). In 2014, the University applied for and was granted a Charter on 23rd March 2016, by the government of Uganda duly signed by his Excellence Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda. In 2018, Kampala University was gazetted making its operations, curriculum and credentials fully recognized nationally, regionally and internationally.
Today, the Capital’s Chartered University runs over 126 accredited programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. KU has over 10,000 students from over 20 nationalities in Africa and beyond. We have graduated about 35,772 over the 23-year period.
