President Yoweri  Museveni has urged people from  Mukono District to take full advantage of government wealth creation programs to overcome poverty, instead of engaging in what he described as “endless politics,”

The President made the remarks during his campaign rally at Naggalama Playground in Nakifuma, as part of his campaign trail in the Greater Mukono sub-region.

President Museveni emphasized that government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), SACCOs, and other wealth creation initiatives were deliberately designed to move households out of subsistence living into the money economy.

“The government has put everything in place. Wealth is created from the home. Many people have already started homestead incomes and have developed. Stop endless politics and use these opportunities to chase poverty from your homes,” Museveni said.

The government of Uganda has invested a cumulative total of approximately  UGX 3.29 trillion  in the Parish Development Model (PDM) since its launch in February 2022. The program began receiving substantial funding in the financial year 2021/2022

At St Joseph Naggalama mixed Primary School Playground, NRM District Chairperson Hajji Haruna Ssemakula thanked the President for supporting industrial development in Mukono. He appealed for further government support to Upgrade Mukono General Hospital with good facilities,Improve road infrastructure, including Bukerere–Kiyunga Road and Establish a Technical and Vocational Institute in Mukono District

The Speaker of Parliament and Second Female National Vice Chairperson of the NRM, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, welcomed President Museveni and Maama Janet to Mukono. She thanked the government for establishing industries, rolling out PDM, and supporting Members of Parliament across political divides. She further appealed for increased youth-focused wealth funds, noting that youth constitute nearly 70% of Uganda’s population, and urged Ugandans to protect national norms and values.

Maama Janet Kataha Museveni thanked the people of Mukono for turning up in large numbers and reminded them that attending rallies alone is not enough.

“You must go back and vote. Voting is your contribution to the development of this country. Every Ugandan aged 18 years and above has a responsibility to participate,” she said.

President Museveni highlighted several government achievements in Mukono District, including Improved access to education and health services and Directed the Upgrading of Kigogola Health Centre III, Kimenyedde Health Centre III, Katosi Health Centre III, and Namataba Health Centre III and the Ongoing and planned road upgrades such as Bukerere–Kiyunga and Kabimbiri–Zirobwe, aimed at easing traffic congestion in Kampala and Expansion of water coverage, with only 19 villages remaining without access to clean water
