Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has commended Mulago National Referral Hospital  Management for donating land to support the expansion of the Uganda Institute of Allied Health and Management Sciences (UIAHMS).

In her remarks during the 17th UIAHMS graduation ceremony, where 871 students received certificates and diplomas across 23 health-science–related programs,Janet Museveni  described the gesture as exemplary and encouraged other institutions to follow suit.

State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. Chrysostom Muyingo, who  represented her at the ceremony, laid the foundation stone for two major projects: a proposed state-of-the-art Senate (administration) building and an 11-storey classroom block, developments aimed at addressing the institute’s persistent space constraints.

Mulago Hospital donated 1.7 acres of prime land to facilitate expansion. She expressed profound gratitude for the support.

The  Institute Principal, Rose Gumisiriza Naasali, thanked management of Mulago National Referral Hospital Complex for their generosity.

Naasali also recognized the First Lady’s office for its continued technical and strategic guidance, noting that the institute’s student population had grown to 3,759 by September 2025, up from 691 in the previous academic year.

Commissioner for Health Education Training (HET), Dr. Safina Musene Kisu, praised UIAHMS as a true center of excellence. She said the institute’s programs have equipped graduates with the professional and ethical skills required for the health sector.

Dr. Musene reminded graduates to register and obtain practicing certificates before entering the workforce. She urged them to uphold professionalism, avoid malpractice, and reject corruption, absenteeism, and unethical conduct. Instead, she encouraged integrity, faithfulness to patients, and accountability.

The Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Kawempe Division, Kagenyi Lukka, called on graduates to serve with patriotism and actively fight corruption in their future workplaces.

He also urged citizens to maintain peace during campaigns ahead of the January 15, 2026 presidential election.
