“I WILL INVEST IN PRODUCTIVE SECTORS TO GROW UGANDA’S ECONOMY”,FDC MAFABI

Accountant cum Uganda Presidential candidate, Nandala Mafabi has vowed to consolidate NRM achievements and invest in productive sectors to grow Uganda’s economy if voted as Uganda’s next president.

“I have come to fix the country by investing in productive sectors to create employment, develop human capital, ensure businesses thrive, and put money in the pockets of Ugandans,” the Forum for Democratic Change flag bearer stated shortly after being nominated by Elecroral Commission Chariperson Justice Simon Byabakama in Lweza.

“People of Uganda should give me an opportunity and they will see the results. We must invest in productive sectors so that every Ugandan has money in their pocket,” he stressed.

Through Uganda’s Tenfold Growth Strategy,the country intends to increase the country’s GDP from approximately $50 billion to $500 billion by 2040 by focusing on key sectors like Agro-Industry, Tourism, Minerals Development, and Science, Technology, and Innovation (ATMS). The strategy involves improving public service delivery and productivity, developing infrastructure, boosting skilled human capital, and attracting foreign investment to achieve a qualitative leap in economic management and transform Uganda into a major investment, trade, and tourism hub in Africa

Mafabi emphasized that the FDC is a party for the people of Uganda, and its leaders are merely custodians.

Nathan Nandala Mafabi is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer, politician and legislator who is representing Budadiri West County in Sironko District in the Ugandan parliament. From May 2011 until January 2014, he was the leader of the opposition in the parliament.

Nandala Mafabi was born in Busamaga village on 17th January 1966 in Sironko district.

After his primary school education he joined Mbale Secondary school where he studied his Olevels.

 He went to Busoga College Mwiri for his Advanced level of education which is found in Jinja district. After his advanced level of education, Nandala Mafabi proceeded to Makerere University where he studied Bachelors of Statistics and Economics degree.

After completing his degree in the year 1988, he went for a postgraduate diploma in education which he obtained also from Makerere University.

In the year 1993, Nandala Mafabi went to Uganda Management Institute and obtained a Diploma in income Tax administration in Kampala. He is a member of Association of the Chartered Certified Accountants and Fellow of the association of Chartered Certified accountants.

In the year 2000, Nandala Mafabi obtained a Masters of Arts degree in Economics followed by a Bachelor of Laws in 2006 from Makerere University.

Nandala Mafabi worked as a tax assessor in the Uganda Revenue Authority in the year 1988 and worked in that capacity until the year 1993. He then worked as a revenue officer.

 He was promoted to senior principal revenue officer and acting chief internal auditor at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).From the year 2000 to 2001, Nandala Mafabi worked in the private sector as a financial management consultant.

Nandala Mafabi then joined politics in the year 2001 when he contested as a Member of Parliament for the Budadiri County West parliamentary constituency which he won and then was again re-elected in the year 2011.

From the year 2006 to 2011 Nandala Mafabi worked as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in the parliament.

He served as the chairman of parliamentary committee on the Economy from the year 2001 to 2006.

Nandala Mafabi has been the chairman of the Bugishu Cooperative Union from the year 2008. He has been the leader of the opposition from 2011 to 2014.

Nandala Mafabi unsuccessfully contested for the Position of FDC Party President and lost to Maj. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu in the Elections held in November 2012 at Mandela National Stadium

In 2015, Nandala Mafabi was elected the Secretary General of the Forum for Democratic Change Party a position he holds upto present day (2018).
