EDDY KENZO JOINS UNIVERSITY TO INSPIRE YOUTH

Inspired by other fellow musicians who graduated recenlty like Geofrey Lutaaya, Musician Edrisah Musuuza aka  Eddy Kenzo has  joined the University to pursue education career.

He joined under Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations, designed for individuals who may not have pursued the conventional academic path.

Kenzo passed Mature age examinations highly and was enrolled at the university.

According to the UBOS 2024 Census Report, approximately 11.9 million Ugandans are illiterate, representing about 26% of the population, with the national literacy rate at 74% for those aged 10 and above.

Uganda faces a significant school dropout crisis, with alarming rates, especially in primary school, where over 40% of pupils leave before completion, translating to over a million students failing to finish primary school annually, driven by poverty, early marriages, inadequate funding for UPE, and poor infrastructure, disproportionately affecting girls, though efforts are underway through new programs and organizations to tackle this challenge

He however told this website that he decided to go back to school to become a perfect role model for his children and youth.

“I went back and took the Mature Entry Exams and passed them very well.Accepted to go back to school, and I’m now at the university. I did this to show my children the right way and to get something to do in the next years of my life by managing my business,”h stated

Eddy Kenzo, is a globally recognized Ugandan musician, singer, and songwriter famous for his “Sitamina ” and ” Sitya Loss ” hits, which propelled him to international fame with viral videos featuring the Ghetto Kids.

He’s the founder of Big Talent Entertainment and President of Uganda National Musicians Federation BET Award winner, a Grammy nominee, and serves as a Presidential Advisor on Creatives, known for promoting Ugandan culture and inspiring youth through his journey from street life to global stardom

He is also the husband to famous State Minister for Energy Phiona Nyamutoro politician.

 Notable uganda Musicians who have gone back to study include Geofrey Lutaaya the Ugandan musician and Member of Parliament, graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration and Management from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in December 2025

Jose Chameleone (Joseph Mayanja) the legendary musician graduated from Cavendish University Uganda with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy in August 2023, Fresh Kid (Patrick Ssenyonjo): The young rapper returned to school, specifically enrolling at Kampala Parents School, to focus on his primary-level education,Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi) returned to study at Cavendish University, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2024 and Hitnature: The “Twazikoze” hitmaker graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in November 2022.
