Presidential Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has applauded residents of Nansana Municipality for embracing government aided projects like Parish Development Model (PDM) to alleviate house hold poverty.
According to the President government has so far injected over Shs 52 billion to benefit more than 47,000 households in Wakiso District.
Since its inception in February 2022, the Ugandan government has transferred a total of over UGX 3.29 trillion (trillion shillings) directly to the Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs across the country. This amount reflects the cumulative funding provided up to November 2025
Addressing mammoth crowd of supporters at Kawanda Agricultural Research Institute playgrounds in Nansana Municipality, the president pledged to increase funding for the initiative to further boost household incomes.
Museveni emphasized that PDM funds are meant to reach households at the grassroots as startup capital to ignite wealth creation. He urged residents to actively participate in parish SACCO meetings to ensure effective and transparent implementation of the PDM, which he described as a landmark government intervention for economic transformation.
He highlighted the NRM’s long-term wealth creation strategy, tracing its roots from 1997 to date, and called on voters in Nansana Municipality and Wakiso District to re-elect the NRM government for its consistent and strategic approach to socio-economic development.
Museveni however advised residents on proper selection of income-generating enterprises within the four key sectors of wealth and job creation citing commercial and peri-urban agriculture (including poultry, dairy, fisheries, and horticulture), artisan and manufacturing, the services sector, and information and communications technology (ICT).
The President argued that all these sectors have strong potential for wealth and employment if implemented strategically, in line with the NRM wealth creation guidelines.
He appealed to the electorates to vote for him and Nrm flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections, citing the need for sustained wealth creation programs and expanded job opportunities.
The First Lady, Maama Janet Kataha Museveni, said Uganda is ready to make a qualitative leap into higher middle-income status, built on the stable foundation established by the NRM government.
She urged residents of Nansana and Wakiso to protect and consolidate these gains by voting for President Yoweri Museveni and NRM candidates.
NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, commended party members in Nansana Municipality and Wakiso District for their unity and discipline during the campaign period. He encouraged them to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, highlighted key service delivery achievements, including improved markets, roads, and wealth creation opportunities for the youth.
