GOVERNMENT SWEARS IN FIRST PHYSICAL PLANNERS REGISTRATION BOARD

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands Dorcus Okalany has sworn in the first Physical Planners Registration Board

The Board will over see the reshaping of physical plans,organise and manage the physical  development of our the country.

The establishment of this Board provides the legal and institutional framework to ensure that physical planning  in Uganda is handled by qualified ,ethical and accountable professional physical planners.

“The Physical Planners Registration Board has a noble responsibility to regulate,register and uphold standards in the practice of physical planning. It is our prayer that you will safeguard public interest ,enhance professional integrity and promote continuous learning and innovation in the physical sector,”Permanent Secretary Dorcus Okalany said,

“As a maiden Board  you need to set  a strong  foundatIon that will define how the profession evolves to positively impact on national development.We are seeing how physical planning in this country has issues which issues have to be sorted by you  the professionals.I therefore urge you to lead with vision,fairness courage  and let your decsions be guided by the principles of service such as integrity,transparency and a strong sense of duty to the nation,”she stated.

Okalany reaffirmed her ministry support to the Board adding that the Ministry  will provide policy guidance to ensure effective functioning of the board  executes their mandate.

She noted that the ministry of lands is now fully in charge of the physical planning functions after it had been taken by National Planing  Authority during the Rapex exercise  but with the guidance of the President and Cabinet ,the function was reverted to the ministry and the physical planning Act is being amended  to that effect.

Acording to the ministry the new physical planners Board comprise of Derek Muhwezi from Makerere University,Irene Achola,Kitgum Municipality Physical Planner,Kaganzi Emmanuel from ministry of lands ,Naigubya Thomas ,Auma Prisca,Mpindi Micheal and Lyazi Ibrah.
