Are you big fun of mouth-watering spread of Indian delicacies—spiced curries, fragrant rice dishes, and sweet favourites such as jalebi and gulab jamun.

Diwali food and Music festival returns at Speke Resort Munyonyo this Sunday, October 19th under the theme:“Unity in Diversity,”

The festival, organised by the Indian Association Uganda (IAU), in partnership with the High Commission of India, will bring together communities for a day of food, music, and cultural celebration, at the resort’s scenic lakeside.

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, symbolises the victory of light over darkness, and good over evil will showcase the rich traditions of Uganda’s Indian communities, while inviting locals to join in the cultural exchange.

Festival activities begin at 12pm, with registered groups receiving tents, tables, and chairs, to prepare and serve 2–3 authentic dishes from their heritage.

Beyond the food, the festival will feature an exciting entertainment program, including- a children’s play area with games, cultural performances, live performers, fireworks display at dusk, as well as traditional decorations and attire to brighten up the stalls.

Stalls will display dish names and prices for clear view, and organisers have put hygiene measures in place, including waste bins and food safety standards, to keep the environment clean and safe.
Communities interested in participating must register by September 30th. Registration requires a simple form listing the dishes, community contacts, and coordinators.

According to Indian Association President- Devanand Nainani last year’s edition drew large crowds, and organisers expect an even bigger turnout this for this year’s edition. With Uganda’s Indian diaspora now estimated at over 30,000 people, the festival continues to strengthen cultural ties, promote tourism, and highlight Uganda as a hub for multicultural celebration.
Set against the breathtaking shores of Lake Victoria, the event promises not only delicious food and entertainment but also a sense of togetherness.
