NRM IS STILL COMMITTED TO DEMOCRACY AND FIGHTING CORRUPTION MUSEVENI SAYS

President Yoweri Museveni has assured Nrm Leaders and the general public that the mighty NRM Government is still committed to democracy, empowering Ugandans and fighting corruption.

He said that one of his biggest goals for the next five years is to eliminate corrupt practices that are holding the country back.

“I have decided to come forward again to help guide the Bazukulu (grandchildren) and their parents for another five years. During this time, we must seriously fight and wipe out corruption,” the President declared.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, accompanied by First Lady Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, officially collected his nomination forms from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) headquarters at Plot 10, Kyadondo Road in Kampala on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

He is seeking to contest as the NRM national chairperson and the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.

President Museveni was warmly welcomed by a large crowd of dedicated supporters. Top leaders who received him included Vice President Jessica Alupo, Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, and NRM Director of Mobilization Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, along with other senior leaders and party members.

In his speech, President Museveni focused on the importance of democracy within the NRM.

“When NRM came to government, we gave people the power to elect their own leaders. You’ve just elected the party structures, and next, you will choose national leaders. These people must represent you and oversee what happens in your communities,” the president said.

President Museveni’s message during the nomination event clearly aligns with his broader campaign goals: to continue the journey of national transformation, promote development, empower the youth, and eliminate corruption at all levels of government.

As Uganda prepares for the 2026 elections, many citizens see President Museveni not only as a long-serving leader but also as a steady hand guiding the country toward a stronger and more secure future.
