UVTAB TO CONDUCT INSPECTIONS OF ALL POLYTECHNICS

The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) will be conducting an inspection of real-Life projects for Vocational National Certificates and Community Polytechnic Certificate, as part of the August 2025 Modular Assessment series.

The one-week inspection exercise which will commence on Monday, 23rd June 2025 aims to assess the skills and competencies of candidates in various vocational areas.

 Onesmus Oyesigye, Executive Secretary of UVTAB,says the inspection is a critical component of the assessment process.

“We are committed to ensuring that the assessment process is fair, transparent, and rigorous,” said Oyesigye. “The inspection of Real-Life projects is an important part of this process, and we are confident that it will help to ensure that our candidates are well-prepared to demonstrate their skills and competencies.”he explained

He adds that during the inspection, UVTAB will assess the projects and activities undertaken by candidates as part of their vocational training. The inspection will also evaluate the facilities and resources available to candidates, as well as the quality of instruction and guidance provided by instructors.

Onesmus urged TVET providers to provide candidates with the necessary facilities and requirements for inspection and final assessment. “We request that TVET providers minimize other activities during this time to ensure the smooth conduct of the inspection and assessment,” he said.

The inspection is part of UVTAB’s efforts to ensure that vocational training programs in Uganda are of high quality and relevance to the needs of the labor market. By assessing the skills and competencies of candidates, UVTAB aims to promote excellence in vocational training and assessment, and to enhance the employability of graduates.

The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) is a national body established under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act, 2025, in Uganda. Its primary function is to assess and certify competencies gained through formal and informal TVET programs. UVTAB is responsible for developing training packages, curricula, and assessment standards, as well as accrediting assessment centers. It also investigates assessment malpractices and undertakes research on TVET assessment.
