Minister of lands, Housing and urban development Hon Judith Nabakooba Nalule, has commissioned a newly constructed health facility at Mpongo health center III in Bbanda sub county Mityana District.
The facility was constructed under the UGFIT funds and it has coasted over 800 million shillings to serve the community of Bbanda Sub County and the surrounding area of Bbanda Town council.
While Commissioning Hon Nabakooba thanked the government of Uganda and the president for allowing to give them such a facility because they had no health center III in the sub county. She went further to asked the district health officer to write a letter concerning the challenges thy are facing on the facility so that she can go and talk to the responsible ministries so that they can be brought to the health facility.
Minister Nabakooba used this platform to warn all the village chairperson not to allow letters from the district and other authorities that allow them to open the boundaries of that where they are conflicts. She said that all letters that give them authority to open boundaries of land should come from her office.
Minister Nabakooba also informed the community that as government they are working hard to open up an account where someone can pay money for busuulu if the landlord refuses to take the money of the tenant.
The area member of Parliament Devid Lukyamuzi Kalwanga also thanked the government for giving them the health center and asked the government to increase on the medicine that are supplied in this facility because some people come from Gomba district to get medication.
The district Health Officer Dr Vincent Kawooya people should not take Mityana general hospital doesn’t have medicine yet they are living the medicine in the health centers and asked residents to first approach the health workers in the lower facilities and when they fail they will refer them to the main hospital.
Incharge Mpongo Health Center Joan Nakajubi said that they expect to see over 3620 patients but because Bbanda Town council doesn’t have a health facility the number increase to 9750 and some patients come from Gomba district in villages like mamba and Nabuyindo.
Joan also told the minister the challenges they are facing at the facility where they don’t have electricity, water and enough staff.
Justine Namuli a resident of Nabuyindo Gomba district has appreciated the construction of Mpongo Health center III and she said that all the facilities are available and they get good service care than the side of Gomba.
Florence Namirembe a resident of Lusarira says that she is happy to be given such a facility because they have been moving long distances when going for antenatal and sometimes they fail to reach the facility and asked government to increase on the number of midwives in the facility.
