Fun Factory popular comedy show Comedicine has officially returned to
NTV Uganda television now airing every Monday at 8 p.m. on NTV.
Comedicine is a sketch comedy created by Fun Factory Uganda that has
aired on a weekly basis. since inception of the group, except the first weeks
of 2018. The show’s success attracted soft drink brand Mirinda to partner
with Fun Factory in the regional Mirinda Comedy tour in 2014.
Richard Tuwangye, one of Fun Factory’s founding Directors, expressed
excitement over the comeback and praised NTV’s role in shaping Uganda’s
comedy landscape.
“In February 2007, NTV began airing our sketches under a show called
Barbed Wire. Broadcasting at 7:30 p.m. every Sunday, it gave us national
exposure and helped accelerate the comedy industry’s growth,” he
reminisced.
Tuwangye described the return to NTV as both nostalgic and strategic. “It’s
a deliberate decision to return to a local station that’s accessible to
Ugandans using free-to-air decoders. We want to reach as many people as
possible with our comedy,” he said.
From their early beginnings at TLC in 2003 to their current live shows at the
National Theatre, Fun Factory has built a reputation for consistently
delivering laughter and thought-provoking satire to audiences across the
country.
Fun Factory comprises of Richard Tuwangye, Simon Base Kalema, Isaac
Kuddzu, Frobisher Lwanga, Veronica Kiwanuka, Dickson Zizinga,
Hannington Bugingo, Evelyn Kemizinga, and many others who continue to
light up stages and screens with their performances.
